The Harry Kazmi Foundation
The Harry Kazmi Foundation is a UK-registered charity dedicated to advancing awareness, research and improved outcomes for alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer affecting children, adolescents and young adults.
The Foundation works to strengthen understanding of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, support research and promote collaboration across the clinical, scientific and wider cancer communities. Its priorities include improving awareness and earlier diagnosis, advancing research into the biology of the disease, and advocating for better diagnostic and treatment pathways. The Foundation is committed to ensuring that the perspectives of young people and families affected by alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma contribute to research, education and progress in care.
Our Mission
To support young people affected by alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma by funding vital research, providing practical support to families, raising awareness of early symptoms, and advancing earlier diagnosis and treatment through improved pathways, policy, and advocacy.
Our Vision
A future where early diagnosis, advanced care, and scientific advancement lead to effective treatments, improved survival, and ultimately a cure for every young person with alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
Our Purpose
Inspired by Harry’s journey, aged 17, the foundation exists to drive scientific and clinical progress in alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer that primarily affects children and young adults and urgently needs greater attention. We are committed to closing gaps in early diagnosis, advancing research into more effective treatments, and improving care through better pathways, policy, and advocacy. Above all, we stand beside every young person and family facing this disease, because every young life deserves a future.
Programmes of Work
The Harry Kazmi Foundation’s programmes of work focus on advancing research, improving awareness and supporting progress in alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
Research and Scientific Advancement
Supporting research, scientific collaboration and translational approaches to improve understanding of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma and advance diagnosis, treatment and outcomes.
Support for Young People and Families
Developing practical educational and wellbeing support for young people and families affected by alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
Awareness and Education
Increasing understanding of alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma and rare childhood cancers through education, public engagement and outreach to healthcare professionals and wider communities.
Early Diagnosis and Care Pathways
Promoting earlier recognition, improved referral pathways and access to specialist expertise for young people affected by alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
Advocacy and Healthcare Improvement
Working with healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers, charities and industry to advocate for improvements in research, diagnosis, treatment and care.
Collaboration and Partnerships
Building relationships across clinical, academic, research, industry and charitable organisations to encourage knowledge-sharing, accelerate progress and strengthen the collective response to alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
Through these programmes, the Foundation aims to connect lived experience with scientific progress and collaborative action, contributing to better-informed care and improved outcomes for the international alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma community.
