The Edward Showler Foundation is a UK registered charity funding research to find a cure for Clear Cell Sarcoma. The Foundation was set-up in memory of Dr Edward Showler, who died from Clear Cell Sarcoma in June 2017, at the age of 28.
The Edward Showler Foundation has raised over £1,000,000 and is seeking to raise another £1,000,0000 to continue to fund Clear Cell Sarcoma Research.
Their impact has been as follows:
- to fund the Edward Showler Foundation CCS Research Programme at the Cancer Institute at University College London (UCL) and catalysing additional investment from others like minded institutions and donors.
- Established an international research network bringing together institutions across the UK, Europe and US including UCL, Royal Marsden Hospital, West German Cancer Centre, German Cancer Research Centre, and others in order to coordinate Clear Cell Sarcoma Research and ensure it is achieves best value and maximises the chances for successful outcomes through collaborations.
- Co-hosted, with UCL, the first ever International Clear Cell Sarcoma Workshop at the Royal Society of Medicine in London (September 2025), bringing together scientists, clinicians and patients from across the world.
- Contributed to a Research Roadmap shaping the future direction of CCS research with international collaboration at its core.
